A scent detection app for lineup and search training

What it is
NoseTrack is a training log for scent detection work. A lineup is a row of numbered positions — boxes, tins, holes in a wall — where usually one holds the target odour. The dog works down the line and indicates; you tap what it said, and the app derives the outcome. A room, a vehicle or an area is logged the other way round: a clock runs while the dog works, and you tap finds and false alerts as they happen. It is built for scent work and nose work, search and rescue, and police and detection K9 handlers who want to see a dog’s pattern rather than just remember the good runs.
How a run is logged
- 1Read the draw. NoseTrack picks the target position — or a blank run — before the dog works, so your own habits stay out of the placement.
- 2Work the line, tap what the dog said. One tap per position it indicated, or none if it worked the line and cleared it.
- 3Save. The verdict is derived from the target and the indications, never stored — so correcting the rule later never rewrites your history. The next draw is already waiting.

Private by design
The training log lives in your browser’s storage and nowhere else. There is no account, no analytics, no server, and no third-party script — the app makes no request of its own. When you want a copy, export a backup file and hand it to whatever you like; NoseTrack passes the file to your device’s share sheet, so it can go to Files, Drive or a message without the app knowing anything about them.

- Is NoseTrack free?
- Yes. It is free, has no account, and shows no ads. It is a personal training log, not a service.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. NoseTrack is a progressive web app: once opened it works with no connection, and you can add it to your home screen and launch it like any other app.
- Where is my data stored?
- In your browser, and nowhere else. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no analytics, and no one else keeps a copy. You can export a backup file whenever you want and re-import it on another device.
- Can I log a room, vehicle or area search?
- Yes. A search is logged live rather than as a line: you start a clock, tap each find and false alert as the dog works, and pause it when the dog is off the search. The record keeps the taps with their times, not a tally, so the count and the time to the first find are worked out from what actually happened. Hides placed and the duration can be corrected afterwards.
- Which kinds of scent detection does it suit?
- Any lineup or container work where one position holds the target odour, and any timed room, vehicle or area search — nose work, scent work, search and rescue, police and military K9, conservation and medical detection. The odour is yours to name.
- How is the target position chosen?
- NoseTrack draws it for you before the dog works, and can deal a blank run at a rate you set. A handler who picks placement brings their own habits with them, and the per-position statistics only mean something if every position was the target about equally often.
